Sometimes the aura of flowers blooming and birds chirping can take away from the fact that nature has always been the inspiration for spring fashion. Spring fashion has been known to be dominated by floral, colourful cardigans, erotic prints and paranormal nautical stripes. The blooming of Easter hats and the smells of pastel painted cupcakes littered as prints on ballooning skirts is enough to make spring fashion an overdosing experience.
Other than fall spring is my favourite time of the year. It’s the time when my make-up does not run and the most beautiful colours come together. It is so simple to fall in love with spring fashion as inspiration can be drawn from almost anywhere. Designers peruse ancient Greece with flowing simple clean dresses, as well as follow the colours of the sky with turquoise blue hue painted brooches worn by runway models. Inspiration from sailors can be used to bring out those nautical stripes and wide leg jeans. The rebirth of denim fabrics in shoes as well as belts and jackets can be used to top off spring fabrics.
With every year there are always trends to accommodate every season. I am very into the neutrals and pastels for spring. The runway for Spring 2010 ranged from beige worn by Carolina Herrera, whites and grey for BCBG and lots of pastel pinks and grey for DKNY. However, what has seriously caught my eye is the use of mixed prints and textures. The ability to mix florals with animal prints and lace with draped fabrics is absolutely mind blowing and packs a statement punch for Spring 2010. This is definitely a super chic, super cute look that is a must try.
With every season there is never one trend that dominates but, the use of Voluminous mini skirts, lace, hand-embroidery or dizzying prints are most definitely a must. These dizzying prints also referred to as tribal by some are the staple piece for that spring wardrobe. However, one must always keep in mind that mixed prints can be toned down with solid pieces and fashion experimentation is always idle to achieve one’s individual look.
For the more daring fashionistas cut outs peek-a-boo print dresses and tops paired with crazy heels can make up a spring ensemble. Also, the adding of bright jewel tones add a sense of excitement, while neutrals can be used along with bright tones for a solid look. I do keep in mind that the economy is not exactly forgiving on the pocket so I will advise that there is no need to have every trend and every high-end piece displayed on the runway. Pair pieces you already have with new updated tones, textures and styles to revamp your wardrobe. Always bare in mind that accessories can either dramatise or break a look ranging from blazers, vests, multi-strand necklaces, shoes and platform sandals so choose wisely and always remember to have fun!
