J Crew Fall 2010 RTW Collection Looks

J. Crew has come a long way since 1983 when it first started out with its mail order catalogues featuring men’s and women’s clothing, accessories and shoes in classic J. Crew styles. For their Fall 2010 RTW collection, creative director Jenna Lyons decided to up the ante with a whole new twist. The inspiration for this new collection? Little Edie (Edith Bouvier Beale) goes to Girl Scout camp. Taking a hint from the documentary film Grey Gardens, the label’s famous staples (rumpled chambray button-downs, boyfriend chinos, utility jackets, and tweed coats) were piled on with maximum accessorises such as cloche hats, berets, brooches, embellishments with bangles and necklaces, textured tights, knee-high socks, and desert boot wedges, as well as (my personal favourite) fur-trimmed shoulder bags.

But what’s best about this collection is that any item from their lookbook can be singled out and matched with other elements in your wardrobe! Gone are the days where matching accessories have to be bought to make your outfit work. Making this very cost friendly on our pockets but still looking like a million bucks. There are also some very affordable basics and some truly unique pieces; this new range is absolutely delectable!
