Yes now we have officially reached the cold and horrible seasons, we need to all get our hands on those stylish items that keep us warm AND also look amazing. Here at FashionBeans we are complete suckers for ridiculous fashion names like the Coat-i-gan. The coatigan itself is anything but ridiculous however and is fast becoming one of our favourite items, especially in this transitional period of the year.

The coatigan is exactly how it sounds, basically an oversized knitted cardigan that you can use in theory as a coat. We are massive fans of the oversized and slouchy cardigans available this year, and the whole trend of using them as jackets and layering underneath really appeals to us on those days where it is just too cold but not raining. Layer your outfit up as you normally would underneath using shirts, tops, tee and even light knitwear and then throw on the Coatigan over the top. Most of them are cut loose and slouchy but to get the desired effect you could oversize in order to really give it that jacket feel.

The fashionista’s of the world are really getting behind the trend, as you can see above in the main image. It was massive throughout Paris this year, as well as at New York Fashion week where many of the street style Sartorial photos featured some seriously oversized cardigans in many forms and colours.
