Women’s Statement Chokers and Necklaces

Women’s Statement Chokers and Necklaces

Make a Statement

Accessories are playing a major role in women’s fashion this season and it is not a surprise because over the past year or so we have seen a massive rise in detailing on clothing and using it as a way to update old looks and provide individuality to an outfit. With the recent financial crisis a lot of women have been hit hard in the pocket and may not have so much money this year to devote to transforming their wardrobe for the new season. Well we hear you and feel your pain, and one way to update a tired looking wardrobe is through accessories, and more specifically this year… statement neckwear.

Yes this year necks are going to be adorned with big, bright baubles of colour and detail. They come in all shapes and styles but only one size… HUGE. They are big, oversized and are definitely there to make a statement to your whole outfit. The main styles we have seen so far are either long multi-rowed necklaces (like stacking bangles but for your neck) or big choker style collars which both look amazing when on. Check out the celebrity pictures below for inspiration and to see just how good they can look.

Summer Beauty Know How

Summer Beauty Know How

Summer Beautiful

So, we have reached the middle of summer, the sun is out and the girls are sporting their summer dresses. Living in the U.K, the rarity of a sun-drenched summer has come about this year forcing women to wear less clothes having more emphasis on natural features. Unlike winter, where you can hide from the public eye beneath a multitude of layers, this summer has brought about a trend that’s all about where less is more.

As you may already know, this seasons runways have shown models in a vast array of layers, prints, materials and shapes. But as unique and individual as each designer collection is, there was a similarity throughout each show; the hair. To keep consumers eye on the clothes, models wore their hair in top knots or in slicked back styles; a simple yet elegantly sophisticated way of keeping the eye moving over the body. Remember this season, effortless and paired down is the new chic, and from a male perspective, ultra sexy.

Women’s Shearling Coat Fashion Trend

Women’s Shearling Coat Fashion Trend

The Shearling Coat

First the biker jackets were all the rage, and then the parka captivated the fashion scene. But move over front runners, it’s now time for the shearling! The ubiquitous and increasingly popular outerwear everyone from Blake Lively to Keira Knightley is wearing, even the designers are clamouring to showcase the best coat for the season. Oversized and thrown over a mini skirt at Prada; cropped and paired with a frill skirt and thigh high boots at Burberry – these latest darlings are supple, lightweight and soft as cashmere. Shear delight!

Coats are a staple for minimalist dressing and shearling coats provide not only warmth with a luxurious feel, but a casual understated fashion look. A relaxed and oversized style is ideal for accommodating plenty of winter layers beneath it, while a stylish fitted leather coat is best teamed with your favourite pair of jeans and boots. And if you haven’t grabbed yours for the upcoming season, here are some top picks to aid you in adding a leather classic to your wardrobe.

T4 on the Beach Coverage and Style Shots

T4 on the Beach Coverage and Style Shots

T4 on the Beach Coverage and Style Shots

So, as many of you will know from my ranting on twitter, last weekend I donned by shorts, grabbed my RayBans, packed my camera and headed down to Weston-Super-Mare for a day of fashion, music, and celebrities at T4 on the Beach.

T4 in on the Beach, now in its 6th year at Weston-Super-Mare, attracts fashionable festival goers and celebrities alike from across the country to enjoy a day of (usually) sunny, sea side excitement. This year the line up included the likes of Dizee Rascal, Ellie Goulding, The Saturdays, Kelis, Pixie Lott and JLS, not to mention a whole host of celebrities from the worlds of TV, Fashion and Dance.

Throughout the day we were on hand with our camera, snapping some of the best dressed acts, celebrities and attendees, all to give you girls some inspiration and advice on how you can rock some of this season’s best looks.

One of the hottest items we noticed this year was undoubtedly the play suit. We started to see playsuits creeping their way into onto the high street last summer and since then they’ve been gaining momentum by the minute, often being the garment of choice for many a fashionista.

Top 4 Looks From the Resort Collection

Resort Fashion

While most of us may not always have the luxury to have a holiday getaway during the cold winter months, we can still delight ourselves in the resort show season! The resort collection is one of the more ambiguous events on the fashion calendar, with shows spanning nearly two months and it’s a bit like a bridge between the seasons. The designers interpret just how a woman breaks up her winter blues and is mainly designed for trips to sunny warm climates. They mix a bit of the previous Fall/Winter silhouettes with sneak peeks from the up and coming Spring/Summer collections – everything we need to prep ourselves for the next big trend!

Most of the looks are warm-weather friendly although these trends are never really the designer’s signature staples nor long lasting compared to the Spring and Fall collections. However, that does not mean that there aren’t any great pieces or styling tips to take note of! In fact, here are 4 top looks that we’ve got on our list from this resort season.

From left to right in the image above we have:

The Tie Dye Fashion Trend

The Tie Dye Fashion Trend

The Tie Dye Fashion Trend

To Dye For

Tie Dye has graced our catwalks once again, with the help of Ashish who previewed some amazing tie dye designs on their A/W ’10 previews as well as Proenza Schouler who did the same. Now, I know what you may be thinking, “Wasn’t that so 1960′s?” Well, technically it was most popular around that time, even though it had existed well before then. And as we should all know by now fashion has a very sneaky way of making a comeback, just when we have all forgotten about it – however it always comes back bigger and hotter.

This season tie dye is on everything from our maxi dresses, maxi skirts, mini dresses, bodycon skirts, vest tops and even our bags (oversized, clutch or otherwise). It still captures inspiration from South America and Asia, where tie dye initially came into existence but this time around uses slightly less colour. If you all remember tie dye back in the day, you’ll remember the oranges, reds, yellows and greens all in one item of clothing, splashed in a circular or diamond shape. However, that no longer exists and instead we have a more subtle and complimentary collection of colours and shapes on our tie dye garments. Black will go with white, purple will go with pink, yellow will go with green, and so on. This makes the fashion more wearable and not just for hippies at festivals.

J Crew Fall 2010 RTW Collection Looks

J Crew Fall 2010 RTW Collection Looks

J Crew Fall 2010 RTW Collection Looks

J. Crew has come a long way since 1983 when it first started out with its mail order catalogues featuring men’s and women’s clothing, accessories and shoes in classic J. Crew styles. For their Fall 2010 RTW collection, creative director Jenna Lyons decided to up the ante with a whole new twist. The inspiration for this new collection? Little Edie (Edith Bouvier Beale) goes to Girl Scout camp. Taking a hint from the documentary film Grey Gardens, the label’s famous staples (rumpled chambray button-downs, boyfriend chinos, utility jackets, and tweed coats) were piled on with maximum accessorises such as cloche hats, berets, brooches, embellishments with bangles and necklaces, textured tights, knee-high socks, and desert boot wedges, as well as (my personal favourite) fur-trimmed shoulder bags.

But what’s best about this collection is that any item from their lookbook can be singled out and matched with other elements in your wardrobe! Gone are the days where matching accessories have to be bought to make your outfit work. Making this very cost friendly on our pockets but still looking like a million bucks. There are also some very affordable basics and some truly unique pieces; this new range is absolutely delectable!
